Settings
Open Settings from the workspace sidebar. The settings window groups options into Transfer, System, SMTP, Logs and Other.
Language and appearance
Choose English, 简体中文, 繁體中文, 日本語 or 한국어, or follow the system language. Unsupported system languages fall back to English. Choose System, Light or Dark appearance; saved choices persist across restarts. Custom application text changes after saving, while native menus and OS dialogs follow the platform's localization.
Transfers and browsing
Adjust upload/download task concurrency, part size and concurrency, timeouts, retries and listing size. Transfer edits save automatically after validation; if saving fails, the draft remains available for retry. Reconnect to apply connection-related options. See Transfers for recovery and disk-space behavior.
Credentials and sign-in
Connection credentials stay in memory by default. Opt in to the system keyring to save them, use Load saved to retrieve them, or Forget credentials to remove them. Keep signed in reloads credentials from the OS store; disconnecting clears the automatic sign-in preference.
The ten recent connection profiles remember names, regions, endpoints, buckets and prefixes. AccessKey IDs, secrets and STS tokens are not written to the settings file. Authorization codes are not saved there either.
Mail, logs and updates
SMTP sharing requires TLS/STARTTLS and confirmation before sending. SMTP edits save after validation; passwords stay in memory or the optional system keyring. Thumbnails, local diagnostic logs and automatic update downloads are opt-in. Installation still requires confirmation and a configured signed update feed; see availability and updates.
Where settings live
Preferences are stored in oss-browser/settings.json inside the OS user configuration directory: ~/Library/Application Support on macOS, %AppData% on Windows, and $XDG_CONFIG_HOME (or ~/.config) on Linux. --config /path/to/settings.json selects an isolated file for development or troubleshooting.
Writes are atomic. Invalid or future-version files are preserved and block writes until repaired and reloaded. Back up the file before editing it manually. Transfer records and checkpoints live beside it under transfers/.
Website preferences
The documentation language follows its URL and the website remembers its own appearance choice. These are independent of the desktop app. Need help? See Troubleshooting.
