Desktop behavior
| Capability | Foundation behavior |
|---|---|

| Single instance | A second launch focuses the existing window |
| Navigation | Shared command registry for custom menus and command palette |
| Appearance | System / light / dark, persisted after successful save |
| Language | System default with English fallback, five explicit language choices |
| External documentation | Opens the configured HTTPS documentation URL |
| Settings | Atomic persistence, reload and protection against corrupt files |
Native roles such as Quit and Copy remain owned by the operating system. There is no active tray, global shortcut or file association. Clipboard, dialogs and notifications are used by application actions through internal/desktop. Development builds provide manual release downloads; signed installation requires a publisher key and update feed. See release configuration.
Manual acceptance
- Start with a fresh
--configpath. Confirm language matches the system or falls back to English. - Change language and appearance, restart, and verify both preferences.
- Select Follow system, change OS appearance, and verify the window updates.
- Open and filter the command palette; activate pages using keyboard shortcuts.
- Close and reopen using Dock activation on macOS; verify a second launch focuses the window.
- Repair an invalid settings file and reload; confirm the original file was not replaced on failure.
System dialogs, native menus and OS theme events require testing on macOS, Windows and Linux. Linux needs GTK 3. Software-rendered snapshots and cross-builds cover different parts of the system and cannot replace those checks.
